Things always take longer than you’d hope for don’t they? Least that’s what my missus says whenever she asks me to some DIY round the ned cave. But fear not my friends, Nige, our ace percussionist friend is working out some nifty rhythms & gizmos, as we speak.
Record of Achievement – posted 10.04.10
Hats off to mega mouse Gareth everybody. We all know how good the nedsite is, but 1000’s of others will find out soon as well, because it is that dead good that the publishers of the Web Design Index, Pepin Press – the authoritative guide for website design – are listing it in their 9th edition due for publication later in the year. Howzat!

Buskin' Neds - Posted 21.12.09 |
| Yep, the Neds were up to their old tricks again at the weekend, as we were out in the town buskin for the Gnomeless of Nedlingshire, making new friends along the way – thank you Georgia & the gang! In the process we raised some decent coinage for Framework – the homeless charity. Ned versions of some classic Christmas toons aplenty…. See the pic attached of us enjoyin’ ourselves minutes before being apprehended by the local constabulary!!!! Of course, in true Ned style, we slipped out of that one super fast…titter titter...!! |

Nedlings and Aliens – posted 30.10.09
The Neds had a close encounter of the galactic kind at the weekend when we 'beamed down' to the Criterion in Leicester. We were lucky enough to befriend an insane group of extra terrestrials & Sci-fi nerds as our crowd & what a motley crew they were! Jean-Luc Picard/Captain Kirk (our host), Princess Leia, Yoda, John Hurt and blood curdling parasitic pal, Dr Spock, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul and one lost child of the Damned!Bizarrely, or some might say, Not!, we fitted in rather well with ‘em, but then Nedlingshire is pretty far out anyhow! As the night moved on, our Captain ran clips from some of the best Sci-fi films from the 50's shown in glorious Cinemascope and Metrocolor. Remember 'Forbidden Planet', 'It came from Outer Space', and a multitude of other greats?! A truly starstudded evening! And yes, it really did happen. Make it so......
Pics to follow my friends . . . . . . . .

St. George’s Day
April 23rd. Come and join the Neds as we celebrate all things English, for an evening of music, song and banter. Chris has even written a new song in honour of a famous English neddish rogue for the occasion. Be the first to hear it whilst suppin’ on a wonderful pint from Springhead perhaps the Leveller or Roaring Meg – English Civil War connections. The place? The Bramley Apple Pub in Southwell. What could be more English than the Bramley Apple, first developed in Southwell! Look forward to seeing ya! PS. Silly English attire preferred!

Great Spring Sowing – Posted March 22nd
A festival of Growing. You are invited on the 22nd March to sow some seeds, meet others, listen (or dance!) to local musicians and celebrate the start of spring in Nottingham. It’s all taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Nottingham’s Arboretum, 10am – 4pm. A worthy cause encouraging us all to act local & think global. Sow some seeds, plant a tree, save the planet, with all things organic, fair-trade ‘n all that.

Canal House Pub, Robin Hood World Record Breaking Event - 08 Mar 2008 |
So, we did it! And the Neds were there. We had been invited to play for the ‘troops’ as the record to get as many people dressed up as Robin Hood together in one place – Nottingham Castle – was smashed, with the official number standing at 1,119. Organiser Dave Green said he was impressed that so many people had turned out. "It is one thing to have people agree to a good idea but quite another to have them make the effort on the day, especially when it is so cold. I'm very, very pleased."
He added: "We did this to bring people together, to reflect all the people we have in the city.
"The thing about the Robin Hood record is that anyone can take part, everyone is welcome, as long as you are prepared to make a bit of a fool of yourself."
And that’s something the Ned never minds doing! |
